Basic Asana Workshop
-Downward Facing Dog-

Monday, August 12, 2024
14:00 - 15:30

With Hanako

The goal of asana practice, as it is said in the Yoga Sutras, is finding stability and comfort in the postures.

Basic asana practice helps us develop the use of the body, which is the foundation for all asanas. Knowing how to use our body not only deepens our asana practice and leads to advanced poses, but also increases our awareness of our body and gives us new insights into ourselves.

In this session, we will learn about Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog Pose).
Downward Facing Dog, for short, works the shoulders, back, legs, and the entire body, stretching both the upper and lower parts. It works on strengthening as well as the flexibility of the whole body. Breaking this down, step-by-step, will lead to a greater understanding of the pose.

We will practice Downward Facing Dog from various angles, including strengthening the arm and shoulder area, and deepening the use of the legs and feet. We will also work on other relevant poses.Learning this pose will lead to a strong foundation for the inversion poses. This workshop is also recommended for those who want to develop inversion poses.

Let's practice together to bring stability to the whole body and achieve a comfortable down dog!

This workshop is highly recommended for someone who…

  • is new to yoga practice

  • are not good at downward dog

  • wants to deepen practice and study
