Our Classes
Hybrid Classes
Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic in Mar 2020, Nami Yoga Studio has been offering our classes in a hybrid format. This means most classes are accessible both physically in the studio and virtually online via Zoom. Some classes are accessible Online only, and some physically in the Studio only, so please check the schedule carefully before booking.
To attend an Online class via Zoom, all you need is a Zoom link that we will send you when you book for the class. During an Online Zoom class, all students will be muted. You may turn off your video; however, we prefer that you leave your video on so that the teacher could see and help you during your practice.

Hatha Yoga
Hatha yoga is fundamental to all yoga styles. In this class, we statically hold in each asana (yoga postures) for 5 breaths or more to focus on alignments. We also introduce meditation and breath technique as important parts of yoga.
*Beginner class will go over basic poses.
*Intermediate class will practice advanced poses.
-
Hatha Flow
In this class, asanas (yoga postures) are practiced with a short flow of sequence. Holding each asana up to 5 breaths, the transitions will be smooth and dynamic. The style is suitable to enjoy both the flow of breaths and the alignment.
*Intermediate class will include advanced poses.
-
Slow Flow
In this class, asanas (yoga postures) are practiced and enjoyed in the flow of deeper, slower breaths. With mindful transitions, we hold longer in each asana, to bring in sensations and benefits of breathing and alignments.
-
Vinyasa
In this class, we will synchronize the movement along our breaths. The flow will be smooth, with a number of asanas (yoga postures) connected in a longer sequence designed by each instructor. The transitions are mostly done with Chaturanga to Down Dog flow (vinyasa flow). The style is suitable to build concentration and to create inner fire.
*Intermediate class will move at a faster pace practicing advanced poses.
-
Flow & Meditate
This class focuses on slowing down our mind, our body, and our breaths. The first half of the class will be the Slow Flow, the second half will be the meditation. Both will be guided in various ways depending on an instructor, offering you the opportunity to bring awareness to your true self.
*Examples of meditation practice: Walking Meditation, Mindful Eating (Raisin Meditation), Yoga Nidra, Body Scan and others.

Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga yoga is a set sequence of breath counts, drishti (focused gaze), and asanas, with the same practice each time and a gradual increase in the number of asanas.
In NYS, the Red Class style (where everyone follows the teacher's guide at the same time) is practiced with a good balance of standing, sitting, and finishing asanas.
Please contact us before joining Ashtanga Yoga classes if you are new to yoga, haven't practiced for more than a month, concerned about physical condition or physical strength, or have a history of injury.
-
Friday Savasana
This class is held every first Friday of the month. In this class, we mix up the underlying concept of relaxation, such as restorative yoga, breathing exercises, meditation and cleansing techniques. Deep relaxation is brought to you as you hold poses for longer periods of time with the aid of props. Instructors will vary depending on the month.
-
Restorative Yoga
Take a moment to relax and rejuvenate with this restorative yoga class. In this session, we will delve into the harmony of mind and body through purposeful restorative sequences, catered to meet the unique needs and conditions of each student, using a variety of props. From pranayama (breathing exercises) to asanas (poses) and occasional dhyana (meditation), this class is designed to unite your body and mind, fostering both active and passive engagement.

Yin Yoga
日本語は後半をご覧ください
Yin Yoga targets the deeper connective tissues of the body, such as ligaments, tendons, bones and joints. Yin classes often consist of seated or lie down poses, each held for 3 to 5 minutes in stillness in a meditative way. This class is a perfect complement to the dynamic and muscular (yang) styles of yoga.
-
Iyengar Yoga
In this class, asanas are performed in alignment (upright posture) and each part of the body is meticulously moved to bring inner awareness to the cells, fibers, skin and skeleton. This method, created and developed by B.K.S. Iyengar, emphasizes the alignment and respects individual conditions at any age and any level. Certified Iyengar Yoga Teachers will propose props in order to maximize the effect of asana, as well as to improve the distortion of the body. All asanas are named in Sanskrit and accompanied one after another to transform the function of your body and mind by the unique method of Iyengar Yoga.
