In the 8 limbs of Yoga, Asana (poses) is the 3rd limb, and Pranayama (breathing techniques) is the 4th limb. In this workshop, we will explore and understand these two important limbs of Yoga, which complement each other perfectly. We will start the class with an introduction to pranayama and practice a few techniques, including cleansing and purification. Some techniques we will be practicing are Kapalbhati, Ujjayi, and Agni Sara. Then, we will move on to asana practice, which involves movement and alignment in the physical body, in addition to conscious breathing. Lastly, we will learn about the bandhas (locks) in our bodies and end with a few more pranayama practices, such as Bhramari and Nadi Shodhana for a relaxed and calm mind.
Note: It is important to practice pranayama on an empty stomach, so please refrain from eating at least 3 hours before the workshop.
